A Three-Card Spread for Litha By Beth Allen

Litha, or the Summer Solstice, celebrates the longest day of the year. Also called Midsummer, Litha is the stuff of dreams; a time for strong magick, faery portals, and poetry.
Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is probably the best-known and loved depiction of this time of year.
However, Litha’s meaning goes much deeper. Litha is Nature’s powerful reminder that beginnings and endings are one; each circling the other and coming together in an intricate dance.
Just when the waxing part of the year has reached its zenith and the sun has reached its peak, the hours of the sun will then decline and the waning months begin.
Light giving way to darkness and coming back again is life’s cycle and Litha’s lesson.
It’s not coincidence that the duality of Litha, this intertwining of two parts, falls under Gemini in astrology, and The Lovers in tarot.
Litha is a good time for us to reset and connect. Below is a quick card spread to honor and work with the dramatic energy of this sabbat.
I’ve used The Green Witch Tarot and Seasons of the Witch Litha Oracle. Feel free to use any deck (or decks) that suit your fancy.
